Here is my AS Media Studies blog, as you can see I have included all relevant features of the process from starting in September with research and planning, all the way through to my evaluation today.

Research and planning: Final modification

I have made one more alteration, I changed the text around on this and put the title in my font onto of the models this was because I believe it gave it that professional but yet a down to earth look and this will suit my target audience.

Contents page - I decided to make the image stand out because I felt like it would add a bit of a new edge the way he is stood in front of everything I believe it differentiates it and gives it a more professional look. I added the text on top because firstly the colour balance of white and blacked worked really well, I don't think the white would of worked anywhere else on the pages I felt like this was why I put it there, and also because secondly the quote is from the model so I thought where else to place other than on the model himself. I added the black bars and red text as this I felt gave this page the same feel as it did through out and it kept that indie look by the font I used, and, like I identified, the colours are very indie so this is why I did this. I also decided to do them in blocks because this to me kept it in structure but in a good way.

Cover page - I decided to make my music magazine main text in that style because I felt it gave it the indie look, and it again kept with my colour scheme. The next was the sub headings and I decided to do mine how I did because again I felt like it kept structure and continuity and I made them bold to stand out a lot and also to use more more on the page to fill the page, with this feature I feel it gave a real life vibe. I then focused a lot on my cutting out skills which was a photoshop feature, I realised after my college that I needed to practice my photoshop skill's which I believe after comparing both of them my skills did improve. I also added more features such as a plug, this was because I believe it turned it from a standard magazine to a good magazine which had some subtle differences which I believe on the whole came out good.

Question 6: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Technology	What does it do?	How was it used?	Problems	Solutions	Lesson learned
Mac	This is used to create everything; this was the device to make everything possible.	For me it was used to hold all the software required and this was my workstation which everything to do with the whole coursework was used to be done on.	I had some minor technical errors such as thing haven’t saved, it wont start etc.	It was fixed by just restarting the system mainly.	That the mac was the most important tool that I had because without it none of this would have been possible.
DSLR camera – Canon 1000D	This takes high quality images.	To take all of my images.	Sometimes it wouldn’t give off the best type of images with bad lighting, unneeded flash etc.	It was fixed by simply having to take the images again.	This was important to get the best quality image but it took a lot of time to get the correct photo.
Photoshop	This is a image editing software.	I used this to create the whole magazine, double page spread and contents page on.	Sometimes things went wrong like the programme kept crashing or when I went from one computer to another it would not work the same.	It was fixed by just going a step back and having to start again.	This was a highly important piece of equipment in the process of my coursework but if something went wrong it was hard to fix.
Indesign	This is another piece of software but more for evidencing work.	I used this very little on my music magazine only really used on the college magazine.	Nothing really went wrong on this as I used it as little as I did.	There was no need for solutions.	This was not much use in the project.
Blogger	This is an online app to display all of my work.	This was again one of the most important parts in the whole project as it was used heavily to document every piece that I had done.	Sometimes some of the work I saved instead of published so it did not display which was not good.	I just had to fix by selecting publish.	This is one of the most important features in the task, as it is needed to document every little detail.
PowerPoint	This is a presentation software.	I used it only really in my evaluation to present some pieces of work in a comparison task.	I did not really have any problems with this.	None as I had no problems.	This is a good simple presenting software. Also it is very reliable.
Survey Monkey	This is some software that other people responded to my questions.	I used this to get peoples opinions on music magazines.	The only problem I faced was to get people to answer.	This was resolved by putting the link onto my social medias so people could answer.	This was good for audience research.
Tripod	This is used to hold the camera on for a steady image.	I did not use this equipment.	None as I did not use.	None as I did not use.	None as I did not use.
Lighting	This is for when taking the image it has to be right to get the best photo.	I used to get the best photo on my model.	It was very had to get good lighting.	I just had to keep taking images to get the best one.	This is important for a good photo.
iShowu	This is a screen capture application.	I used to record my magazine and talk over and analyse.	It sometimes corrupted so I had to start again which was irritating.	I just had to start again when it went wrong.	This is a helpful tool.
iPhoto or image capture	This is where your photos are saved on mac.	I used to upload all of my images after being taken on the SLR camera.	None, this was a very reliable software.	None.	This is a good piece of software to store all of your images.
Prezi	This is a presentation software.	I used in my evaluation.	It took me a while to get used to as I have never used it before.	I just had to keep on practising until I got it correct and knew what I was doing.	This is an advanced more professional looking presentation software.
Social media	This is a personal thing online, which I can use.	I used to get people to answer my survey monkey.	None.	None.	This is a good thing.
Excel/Word	These are Microsoft products, which do different thing such as excel is for numbers, and word is for publishing.	I used word to publish pieces but I did not use excel.	None.	None.	They where not too important in the task.
